Addictions: People tell me they have an addictive personality or that this is an addictive society. Of course they are right. Addiction comes from the idea that there is not enough. The underlying belief is that there is not enough money, food, love, sex or whatever. The question they ask is: What can I do about it? My question is: Do you think you had all your needs met when you were a new born baby, an infant, a small child? Were you held in the arms of love for the first year of your life, breast fed on demand, nurtured and utterly supported? Or were you fed to a regime, left to cry yourself to sleep in the name of sleep training and only held when being fed, changed or when you cried? If you tell me that all your needs were met then I know you do not suffer from addictions! |
